Vincent Ekow Assafuah calls for urgent support for Ghana Tennis Federation
Vincent Ekow Assafuah, the Ranking Member on Parliament’s Youth and Sports Committee, has requested immediate government and corporate intervention to assist the Ghana Tennis Federation.
The Old Tafo MP appealed to the Minister for Sports and Recreation, the National Sports Authority (NSA), and the Ghana Olympic Committee to provide the financial backing necessary for Ghana to compete in upcoming international tournaments.
Key Concerns Raised:
- Risk of Non-Participation: Ghana may miss significant international competitions without rapid financial support.
- Athlete Development: These tournaments are essential for providing exposure to athletes and maintaining the nation's sporting reputation.
- Funding Struggles: Assafuah noted that despite the Federation’s attempts to mobilise resources, little progress has been made.
Assafuah urged all stakeholders within the sports ecosystem to intervene urgently to ensure the federation can meet its international obligations.
