2026 FIFA WC: Benjamin Asare joins Black Stars squad for Mexico friendly
Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has been called up to the Black Stars squad for the upcoming international friendly against Mexico on Friday, May 22, 2026.
The 33-year-old replaces Gidios Aseako and is expected to join the team immediately.
Asare, recognised as a top performer in the Ghana Premier League, earned his first senior call-up last year and debuted against Chad in March 2025.
He has since earned 11 caps for the national team.
His inclusion provides additional domestic talent to head coach Carlos Queiroz’s squad as Ghana continues its preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
