Boycott Black Stars, dissolve GFA now — Yaw Opoku Mensah

A communications member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Yaw Opoku Mensah, has called for the immediate and total dissolution of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) management following the Black Stars’ defeat to Germany, which led to the sacking of the national team coach Otto Addo.

In a statement , Yaw Mensah argued that if the coach could be removed for poor performance, then the decision-makers, who he says are worse off than the coach, should also be held accountable and removed from their positions.

He wrote, “Let’s boycott support for the Black Stars until the management of the GFA is dissolved,” insisting that careful analysis of the team’s performance and the actions of the leadership clearly show that public funds have been wasted while leaders within the association prioritize personal gains over the success of Ghanaian football.

Mr Mensah singled out a serving member of the management, who also serves as the CEO of the Cocoa Board, suggesting that the official’s preference for football activities over key national development priorities reflects the misplaced focus and irresponsibility at the top of the GFA.

He warned that Ghanaians cannot leave the future of football in the hands of such people and urged all citizens, regardless of political affiliation, to demand the immediate removal of the current management team or to withhold support for the national team until accountability and competence are restored.
