Preparations by Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars, have been disrupted by a reported theft at their team hotel in Vienna ahead of their international friendly against Austria national football team.

The squad, led by head coach Otto Addo, opened camp on Sunday and began training sessions the following day as part of their build-up to upcoming fixtures.

However, the camp was unsettled after two players reported missing Rolex watches valued at approximately $20,000 following Wednesday’s training session. A day later, a member of the technical team also discovered that $2,250 in cash had been taken.

Team officials subsequently reported the incidents to local authorities, but initial investigations were complicated after hotel management indicated that security cameras at the facility were not functioning.

Despite the situation, the Black Stars are expected to honour their scheduled match against Austria later today at the Ernst-Happel-Stadion, with kick-off set for 17:00 GMT.

The team will then travel to Stuttgart for a second friendly against Germany national football team on March 30.

Both matches form part of Ghana’s preparations toward the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
