GSS reports inflation drops to 3.3% in February
Ghana’s inflation rate declined sharply to 3.3 per cent in February 2026, marking the 14th consecutive month of disinflation and signalling a sustained easing of price pressures across the economy.
The latest figures, published in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Rate of Inflation report by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS), represent a significant improvement compared to previous years.
Inflation stood at 52.8 per cent in February 2023, before falling to 23.2 per cent in February 2024 and 23.1 per cent in February 2025.
The new 3.3 per cent rate reflects a steep downward trend over the three-year period.
The update was also shared by the Finance Minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, who cited the GSS data on his Facebook as evidence of continued macroeconomic stabilisation and improving price conditions.
Economists note that sustained declines in inflation typically ease the cost of living for households and reduce input costs for businesses, while supporting broader economic recovery efforts.
The GSS compiles inflation data monthly using the Consumer Price Index, which measures changes in the prices of goods and services over time.
With the latest reading, Ghana records one of its lowest inflation rates in recent years, extending the downward trajectory observed since 2023.
