Ghana, World Bank deepens cooperation at Spring Meetings
Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to economic recovery and growth following high-level discussions at the International Monetary Fund- World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington, D.C.
During the meetings, Ghana’s delegation led by Finance Minister, Dr Casiel Ato Forson held talks with Ousmane Diagana, Regional Vice President of the World Bank for Western and Central Africa, focusing on strengthening development cooperation.
Dr Forson and his officials indicated that Ghana’s economy has stabilised and is on a path toward debt sustainability, with government now shifting its focus from stabilisation to growth.
Both sides agreed to deepen collaboration in key priority areas, including commercial agriculture and agribusiness to drive job creation, energy development with emphasis on gas-to-power and gas-to-fertiliser initiatives, education and human capital development, as well as infrastructure to improve the movement of goods.
The discussions also reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to maintaining fiscal discipline while safeguarding vulnerable populations.
The government welcomed the World Bank’s continued support, noting that the partnership will be critical in consolidating recent economic gains and promoting inclusive growth.
