The Vice President of Ghana, Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has led a high-level engagement with Spanish food company GB Foods to explore investment opportunities in Ghana’s agro-processing sector.

The meeting, which also involved the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and Ghana’s Ambassador to Spain, Kalsoume Sinare Baffoe, reaffirmed the strong bilateral relations between Ghana and Spain.

Discussions centred on strengthening Ghana’s tomato value chain, with a particular focus on boosting local production, enhancing agro-processing, and creating sustainable employment opportunities.

Government officials emphasised the importance of integrating local tomato farmers into the value chain to improve livelihoods and reduce reliance on imports.

The engagement also highlighted the need for value addition through processing to increase the competitiveness of Ghana’s agricultural sector.

The meeting forms part of broader efforts by the government to attract strategic investments and promote industrial growth through partnerships with international firms.

Officials reiterated Ghana’s commitment to providing an enabling environment for investors, as the country seeks to leverage such collaborations to drive economic transformation and strengthen its agro-industrial base.
