Ghanaian actress Joselyn Dumas has opened up about a distressing experience in which she lost a significant amount of money to a suspected mobile money scam.

Sharing her story in a video posted on X , she explained how the incident unfolded, revealing that the fraud led to her MTN mobile money wallet being completely drained.

According to her, the ordeal began when she contacted DSTV, thinking that she was talking to a representative from the television service provider, offering assistance with a subscription upgrade.

Although she initially had doubts, the caller managed to convince her by insisting there were technical issues that required her immediate cooperation.

She recounted that the scammer later sent her a link and rushed her to input a one-time verification code, guiding her through what seemed like a routine process.

Moments after following these instructions, she realised her account had been emptied.

The situation worsened when the fraudster allegedly gained access to her mobile money application using her phone number and PIN.

The individual reportedly activated a loan service and withdrew funds under her name.

Even after she regained control of her account and deposited money into it, she noticed that deductions were still being made—payments linked to a loan she insists she never authorised.

Describing the moment she realised what had happened, she said her phone vibrated shortly after sharing her number, and by the time she checked, all her funds were gone.

She added that she had even sent money to someone during the interaction, only to later discover it had been used to repay the unauthorised loan.

Using her experience as a cautionary tale, the actress urged the public to remain vigilant, avoid sharing sensitive information such as PINs, and be wary of unsolicited requests or links.

She also called on DSTV authorities to strengthen security measures to better protect customers from similar fraudulent schemes in the future.
