The Weija Gbawe Municipal Assembly, in collaboration with the Centre for National Culture, has officially launched a week-long Heritage Month celebration aimed at promoting Ghanaian traditions and cultural identity.

The event, held under the theme “Our Heritage, Our Culture,” seeks to showcase Ghana’s rich cultural heritage while promoting indigenous foods, traditional clothing, and local ways of life.

Speaking to the media during the opening ceremony, the Municipal Chief Executive for Weija Gbawe, Hon. Felix Nii Odartey Lamptey, urged Ghanaians to take pride in their cultural roots rather than shy away from them.

“We must be proud of our background and what we have.

By cherishing our culture, we can project it to the world for others to learn from,” he stated.

Hon. Lamptey further emphasised that promoting Ghanaian culture presents significant economic opportunities.

According to him, celebrating local traditions can serve as a source of revenue generation while also helping to boost the local economy.

The week-long celebration is expected to feature a variety of cultural activities, including exhibitions of traditional foods, clothing, and performances that highlight the diverse heritage of Ghana.

The initiative forms part of efforts to encourage citizens to preserve and promote indigenous culture for future generations.
