Florence Obinim opens to possible collaboration with Shatta Wale
Ghanaian gospel musician Florence Obinim has revealed that although she has no immediate plans to collaborate with secular artistes, she would consider working with dancehall star Shatta Wale if the opportunity arises.
Speaking in an interview on JoyPrime, Obinim explained that her choice would be influenced by admiration for Shatta Wale’s personality and values.
“I haven’t planned to collaborate with any secular artist,” she stated, “but if the time comes and I have to choose someone, I would prefer Shatta Wale.”
She further noted that she appreciates the musician not just for his music, but for his encouragement of spirituality among his fans.
According to her, Shatta Wale’s frequent calls for prayer and his willingness to support others make him stand out.
Obinim also expressed confidence that the dancehall artiste would respect and adapt to her gospel style if they ever worked together, blending his craft with her spiritual message.
Addressing concerns often raised about gospel and secular collaborations, she urged the public not to judge an artist harshly based on such decisions.
“We are all human, and when the time comes, God will judge each of us,” she said.
“No one has the authority to judge another person’s life.”
She added that she sees nothing wrong with collaborating with Shatta Wale, emphasising that talent and inspiration ultimately come from God.
“Shatta Wale is a good person. Whatever song he sings, God gave it to him,” she remarked, while reiterating that every individual is responsible for their own choices.
