The organisers of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards have confirmed that the Group of the Year category, which was absent from the 27th nominees announcement, will be unveiled this week.

Robert Klah, Head of Public Events and Communications at Charterhouse, disclosed this in an interview on Hitz FM, stating that the category has not been cancelled.

He explained that Group of the Year is among a few categories yet to be released, including African Song and Music for Good. According to him, the Music for Good category is being announced earlier than usual to highlight impactful works and encourage artistes to use music for social good.

Klah noted that the delay in announcing the outstanding categories is due to internal considerations, adding that it had already been indicated that some categories would be revealed later.

The absence of the Group of the Year category initially raised concerns among some artistes, including Keche and Lali x Lola, as well as industry stakeholders, who argued against any potential cancellation.

The main awards ceremony for the 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards is scheduled for May 9, 2026.
