Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority(GTA), Gilbert Aggrey also known as Abeiku Santana, has applauded Ghana’s growing tourism industry, describing the country as Africa’s leading destination for entertainment, culture, fashion, music, and lifestyle experiences during the festive season.

Speaking in an interview on the Impact Code Africa Podcast, he explained that tourism is largely driven by marketing and branding, stressing that every country must clearly define and promote what makes it unique to visitors.

According to him, Ghana has successfully positioned itself as the ultimate December destination, attracting both locals and international visitors with vibrant parties, concerts, festivals, and cultural experiences.

He noted that unlike many African countries where cities become quiet during the holidays, Ghana comes alive with nonstop activities and celebrations.

He further highlighted the importance of expanding tourism beyond December, pointing to Easter celebrations such as Kwahu in the Eastern Region, GomoaFest in the Central Region, and AshantiFest in the Ashanti Region as emerging tourism attractions drawing attention across the country.

Santana also revealed that the Ghana Tourism Authority is intensifying efforts to promote domestic tourism by encouraging Ghanaians to travel, explore local destinations, and invest in the country’s tourism sector.
