“No wonder my body hurts” — LilWin reacts to fake mattress scandal
Ghanaian Kumawood actor Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as LilWin, has reacted to the recent arrest of some Chinese nationals by the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) over alleged illegal mattress production.
In viral videos circulating online sighted by classfmonline , the GSA carried out an operation on May 19, 2026, at the Jin Yuan Jia mattress manufacturing company in Afienya, where some foreign nationals were arrested for allegedly producing substandard mattresses that failed to meet approved safety and quality standards.
The suspects were also accused of operating in defiance of a court order reportedly issued against the company in October 2025.
Following news of the development, LilWin shared a video expressing concern about persistent body pains he experiences every morning after sleeping. The actor explained that after hearing allegations that some mattresses were being produced with rubber-like materials instead of approved flexible polyurethane foam, he decided to inspect his own mattress.
In the video, LilWin was seen cutting open the mattress, only to discover what he claimed looked like polystyrene or rubber-like material inside instead of proper foam.
“I saw the videos online about the factory shutdown, and they said the mattresses were made with materials like rubber used in packaging televisions and other appliances,” he said.
“Every morning I wake up feeling body pains as if I have been beaten. So I decided to cut open my mattress to check whether mine was also part of the products.”
The actor further called on government agencies and relevant authorities to intensify inspections on products released onto the Ghanaian market to protect consumers from harmful materials.
“Why would someone use rubber as foam? The government must be very careful about the products allowed on the market because they can be harmful to people,” LilWin added.
