Stonebwoy says past pain still blocks peace with Shatta Wale
Ghanaian dancehall star Stonebwoy has stated that reconciling with longtime rival Shatta Wale would go against the memory of his late mother.
In an interview on Angel FM, the award-winning musician said their nearly decade-long feud is deeply personal and cannot be treated as mere showbiz rivalry.
According to him, any attempt to publicly make peace would feel like a betrayal.
“If I start smiling or laughing with the person, even my mother’s ghost will kill me,” he said, emphasising how strongly he feels about the issue.
The tension between the two artists dates back to 2018, when Stonebwoy accused Shatta Wale of alleging that he played a role in the death of his mother, Catherine Satekla, who passed away in 2015.
While Shatta Wale denied making such claims, Stonebwoy insists the incident caused lasting emotional damage.
He also pushed back against the idea that public feuds are simply part of entertainment marketing.
Stonebwoy argued that artists have a responsibility to uphold Ghana’s image internationally and should be mindful of their words.
Although there have been brief moments of calm — including a widely discussed handshake-turned-hug recalled by media personality Bella Mundi — relations between the two remain strained.
For Stonebwoy, the unresolved pain surrounding his mother’s memory continues to stand in the way of any reconciliation.
