One hundred and twenty women in the New Abirem Constituency have received interest-free loans from aspiring NDC Constituency Chairman, Frank Owusu Amoah, popularly known as Bravo, to help them expand their businesses and improve their livelihoods.

The beneficiaries, who are engaged in various businesses, are expected to use the funds to increase their working capital, grow their businesses and improve their incomes.

The initiative is part of Mr. Amoah’s efforts to support women and create more opportunities for people at the grassroots.

Speaking during the presentation, Mr. Amoah said women played an important role in supporting their families and contributing to the development of their communities.

He said providing them with access to funds could go a long way to making their businesses more sustainable.

“When you support a woman, you are supporting a family. We want these women to use this money to grow their businesses and improve their lives.”

Mr. Amoah stressed that the loans come without interest, explaining that the arrangement was intended to make it easier for beneficiaries to repay and continue to invest in their businesses.

“We don’t want the interest to become a burden on them. The main thing is for them to grow their businesses, make some profit and be able to support themselves and their families.”

He also revealed that the initiative would not end with the first batch of beneficiaries, as plans are underway to extend the support to more women across the constituency.

According to him, the long-term goal is to reach more than 1,000 women through the programme.

“This is just the beginning. We started with 120 women, but our target is to reach over 1,000 women. As we move along, we will bring more women on board.”

Some national and regional NDC executives who attended the programme commended Mr. Amoah for the initiative.

They said the support was a practical way of reaching people at the grassroots and encouraged other party leaders and supporters to consider similar initiatives.

They noted that empowering women economically could have a direct impact on families and communities, particularly by helping beneficiaries create more sustainable sources of income.
