Obetsebi Lamptey interchange affected by traffic diversion for Pamprom drainage project
The Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange has been impacted by a temporary traffic restriction as authorities assess how motorists will be affected by planned drainage works at Pamprom Junction.
The westbound section of the Dr. Busia Highway at Pamprom Junction was closed to traffic on Monday, September 7, 2026, as part of a traffic simulation exercise.
The exercise is being undertaken under the Greater Accra Resilient and Integrated Development (GARID) Project to determine the likely impact of the upcoming drainage construction on traffic flow in the area.
Project authorities say the simulation will help them assess potential congestion and identify sections where motorists could experience significant delays once construction begins.
The findings are expected to guide the development of traffic management measures to keep vehicles moving and reduce disruption during the main phase of the drainage works.
Motorists who regularly use the affected stretch have been advised to plan ahead and use alternative routes where possible.
Road users have also been urged to drive cautiously and follow temporary traffic signs and instructions from personnel deployed to manage movement around the affected area.
The temporary closure forms part of preparations to ensure that traffic disruptions associated with the drainage project are properly anticipated and managed.
