Members of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana have withdrawn its services begining thier indefinite nationwide strike on Monday, March 9, 2026, over delays in implementing their agreed conditions of service.

According to the association the industrial action had become necessary because its leadership had not received any response from the government regarding the outstanding issues.

The National Labour Commission had earlier directed the association to halt the strike, but CLOGSAG has instructed its members to defy the directive and proceed with the action.

Speaking to Class News, the Public Relations Officer of the association, Edmund Aquaye, said the leadership of CLOGSAG had not heard from their employer since announcing the intended strike.

“Since last Thursday that we announced our intention to strike, the NEC of CLOGSAG has still not heard anything from our employer. For that matter the strike is still on. We entreat all members not to go to work from today. We are on strike,” he said.

Meanwhile, labour analyst Austin Gamey has called for dialogue among all parties to prevent disruptions in the operations of ministries and government agencies.

He noted that an engagement through the National Labour Commission could help compel the employer to provide a clear timeline for resolving the matter.

“The President said that because of our salary administration we should be patient for an independent body to be put together. That is why the Ministry of Finance, the Labour Commission and others are unable to do anything about it, “I would have loved it if they went to the Labour Commission and the commission would then compel the employer to give a timeline for the matter to be resolved once and for all.”he said.
