Defence Ministry inaugurates committee for Ghana Armed Forces home ownership scheme

Committee members inaugurated

The Ministry of Defence has inaugurated a committee to develop a policy framework for the establishment of the Ghana Armed Forces Home Ownership Scheme, in fulfilment of a key promise contained in the manifesto of the governing National Democratic Congress.

The committee has been tasked with producing a comprehensive policy document to guide the implementation of the housing initiative aimed at improving home ownership opportunities for personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces.

Chairing the committee is the Principal General Staff Officer (PGSO) at the Ministry of Defence, Brigadier General Ben Gah.

Other members include representatives from the Office of the President, the Ghana Home Ownership Fund, the Ministry of Works and Housing, the Ghana Armed Forces, the State Housing Corporation, the National Development Planning Commission, and the Veterans Administration, Ghana.

According to the Ministry, the committee has been directed to approach its work with urgency while ensuring that the process remains practical and consultative.

The proposed scheme is expected to provide sustainable housing solutions for military personnel and contribute to improving the welfare of members of the armed forces.
