The Acting Executive Secretary of the Energy Commission of Ghana, Adwoa Serwaa Bondzie, says the government’s proposed 24-hour economy policy cannot succeed without a reliable, resilient, and financially sustainable energy sector.

Speaking at the launch of the Public Facility Sustainable Energy Action Plan (PF-SEAP) Programme, she said energy remains central to productivity and national development.

According to her, the government’s economic transformation agenda, which aims to boost productivity, support enterprise growth, create jobs, and expand economic activity across sectors, depends heavily on an efficient energy system.

She explained that the PF-SEAP programme is intended to help public institutions reduce energy waste, improve energy management, lower operational costs, and transition to cleaner and more sustainable energy solutions.

Board Chairman of the Energy Commission of Ghana, Professor John Gartchie Gatsi, also said the successful implementation of the Public Facility Sustainable Energy Action Plan would help reduce energy inefficiencies and lower electricity costs in public institutions.

He added that the programme would strengthen Ghana’s energy security, create green jobs, support technical skills development, and expand private sector participation in the renewable energy and energy efficiency sector through collaboration among stakeholders.
