Foreign Affairs Ministry Announces Evacuation of Ghanaians From South Africa
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced plans to evacuate Ghanaians from South Africa through a special chartered flight.
According to information released by the ministry, the first batch of 300 Ghanaians will be evacuated from South Africa on May 21, 2026.
The evacuation flight is scheduled to depart South Africa at 5 AM through the O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg.

The ministry stated that the evacuation exercise is a free service fully funded by the Government of Ghana.
In a statement issued by the ministry led by Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, it noted that “the welfare and safety of all Ghanaians is a non-negotiable priority of the Mahama Administration.”
For further information, affected persons have been advised to contact Ghana’s High Commission in Pretoria.
The announcement was made through an official notice issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
