The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) have begun a nationwide exercise to distribute prospectuses to  2000 successful applicants who passed the recent recruitment process.

At a ceremony held at Nicholson Stadium at Burma Camp, 507 eligible candidates were presented with their prospectuses to commence a six-month training programme.

Speaking in an interview, the Director of Public Relations for the Ghana Armed Forces, Naval Captain Veronica Adzo Ahin, explained that this year’s exercise is being conducted across all sixteen regions. According to her, the decentralised approach is aimed at reducing overcrowding, unlike previous years when all recruits were required to report to Accra to receive their prospectuses.

She assured the public that the Armed Forces will continue to improve the process in subsequent years to make it more convenient and accessible for applicants.

Captain Ahin also provided an update on the Elwak Stadium incident, revealing that 18 individuals who sustained injuries are being closely monitored. Those who have fully recovered have already been included in the first phase of the exercise, while the remaining individuals will be considered for the next phase once they are fit.

Additionally, she noted that families of applicants who lost their lives have been given the opportunity to nominate replacements. So far, four names have been submitted, with one more expected.

Captain Ahin further assured applicants who failed the medical screening that they may be given another opportunity. She explained that some of the identified health conditions are treatable, and affected individuals can undergo treatment and return for reassessment.
