Ghana Maritime Authority celebrates International Day for Women in Maritime
The Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA) has joined the global maritime community in commemorating the International Day for Women in Maritime, celebrating the achievements and contributions of women within the industry.
In a statement issued by the Director- General of the Authority, Kamal-Deen Ali, the GMA praised the courage, innovation, and dedication of women working across various sectors of the maritime industry.
The Authority highlighted the growing role of women in areas including seafaring, port operations, engineering, maritime law, and leadership, noting that women continue to break barriers and contribute significantly to the advancement of the sector.
According to the statement, the Ghana Maritime Authority remains committed to promoting gender inclusion and empowering women and girls within the maritime space.
The Authority stressed that diversity and equal participation are essential to driving innovation, strengthening Ghana’s maritime industry, and supporting national development.
The GMA also called on government institutions, industry stakeholders, and development partners to support initiatives aimed at mentoring, training, and advancing women in the maritime sector.
The statement further commended women in the maritime fraternity for their resilience and achievements, describing their contributions as a source of inspiration for future generations and a driving force behind the continued growth of the industry.
