The Government of Ghana has officially summoned the Acting South African High Commissioner, Mr Thando Dalamba, to express its "strong condemnation" of ongoing xenophobic attacks against Ghanaians and other African nationals in South Africa.

During the session, Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel O. Ablakwa demanded more rigorous protections for the human rights and dignity of Ghanaian citizens living in South Africa.

The Ghanaian government communicated several specific expectations to the South African envoy:

- Decisive Action: A call for South African authorities to implement immediate measures to protect vulnerable foreign communities.

- Expedited Investigations: An urgent request for the South African government to fast-track promised investigations into the violence.

- Punishment of Perpetrators: Ghana emphasized that those responsible must be prosecuted to serve as a deterrent against future attacks.
