The Member of Parliament for Salaga South, Hajia Zuweira Mohammed Ibrahimah has paid tribute to the late President John Evans Atta Mills, describing him as a humble, principled and selfless leader whose legacy continues to inspire Ghanaians.
Contributing to tributes from MPs in honour of the late President, the MP extended her condolences to the late President's family in Ekumfi and Cape Coast and prayed that Almighty Allah grants the late President eternal rest.
Zuweira recalled attending the memorial lecture held in honour of the late President on July 22, describing it as a thought-provoking event that celebrated the values and leadership of Prof. Atta Mills.
She recalled a social media post by former presidential spokesperson who described the lecture as one that "must be studied by every conscientious Ghanaian”.
The lecture brought together distinguished personalities from across the country including respected economist, former Chief Justice and senior statesman reflecting the profound respect the late President continues to command.
Zuweira noted that Professor Frimpong-Boateng spoke with remarkable honesty and integrity, candidly highlighting the exemplary character of the late President.
She said the lecture reaffirmed Prof. Atta Mills' enduring legacy as a selfless, principled, and patriotic leader who placed the nation's interest above personal or political gain.
She further recounted a personal encounter with President Atta Mills in March 2011, an experience she said left a lasting impression on her and strengthened her admiration for his humility and compassionate leadership.
The Salaga South MP concluded that the life and leadership of the late President remain a shining example for current and future generations, urging Ghanaians to uphold the values of honesty, integrity, peace, and dedicated public service that defined his presidency.
