Korle Bu doctors suspend strike after management assurances
Doctors at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital have called off their strike after receiving assurances from management over issues surrounding the facility’s Central Laboratory.
In a statement dated Monday, May 4, 2026, the Korle Bu Doctors Association said the decision followed a meeting with hospital authorities, during which commitments were made to allow Laboratory Physicians to resume their full duties at the Central Laboratory.
The Association noted that ending the industrial action is necessary to promote cooperation between Laboratory Physicians and Medical Laboratory Scientists, which it described as essential for effective healthcare delivery.
The strike, which began earlier on Monday, had disrupted Out-Patient Department services at the hospital.
KODA has since directed its members to return to duty, with OPD services expected to resume from Tuesday, May 5, 2026.
The action had been triggered by disputes over laboratory operations, raising concerns among patients. The suspension is expected to restore normal outpatient services as further discussions continue to resolve outstanding issues.
