MP for Ayawaso East Baba Jamal supports Nima market fire victims with GH¢5,000 each
The Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East, Baba Jamal, has announced financial assistance for traders affected by the recent fire outbreak at the Nima Market in Accra.
Following a visit to the scene of the incident, the legislator disclosed that each affected trader would receive GH¢5,000 as immediate support to help them recover from the losses suffered during the blaze.
The fire, which destroyed goods and properties belonging to several traders, has left many victims struggling to restart their businesses.
Addressing the media after touring the affected area, Baba Jamal expressed sympathy to the traders and residents impacted by the incident, describing the destruction as devastating for the community.
He noted that officials from the Municipal Assembly and the National Disaster Management Organisation were among the first responders who assisted during the emergency.
The Ayawaso East MP also appealed to the government and other stakeholders to support efforts toward the construction of a modern market facility in the constituency.
According to him, improving market infrastructure would not only create a safer trading environment but also help reduce the risk of similar fire outbreaks in the future.
He further called on government, corporate institutions and the general public to extend support to victims as they work to rebuild their livelihoods after the disaster.
