No load-shedding timetable yet – Jinapor

News
Minister for Energy, John Abdulai Jinapor,

The Minister for Energy, John Abdulai Jinapor, has clarified why government will not introduce a fixed load-shedding timetable despite increasing calls from the public for a clearer schedule amid ongoing power interruptions.

According to him, unlike previous periods where power cuts followed a more structured pattern, the present challenges are being handled in phases as technical issues are addressed in real time.

His remarks come as concerns grow among households and businesses over erratic electricity supply, with many calling for a clear schedule to help them plan.

Speaking at the Government Accountability Series on Monday, April 27, 2026, he explained that the current situation in the power sector is constantly changing, making it difficult to outline a predictable timetable for outages.

He noted that engineers are working continuously to stabilise the system, adding that improvements in generation can quickly change the supply outlook.

Mr. Jinapor assured that government will continue to keep the public informed about developments in the sector.

Meanwhile, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has apologised to customers affected by the recent outages linked to the fire incident at the Ghana Grid Company substation in Akosombo, indicating that engineers are working to restore full power as soon as possible.
