Samuel Atta-Mills urges MDAs to boost coordination to enhance internal controls
Ranking Member of the Public Accounts Committee, Samuel Atta-Mills, has urged Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to enhance coordination among themselves to strengthen internal control systems and ensure accurate reporting of payments to contractors.
He made the appeal during a public hearing of the Committee, where selected state institutions were summoned to address issues highlighted in a Special Audit report by the Auditor-General.
Mr Atta-Mills also called on the Auditor-General to conduct a detailed audit of outstanding liabilities, stressing that such an exercise would improve transparency and reinforce accountability in the management of public finances.
Officials from several institutions appeared before the Committee, including the District Assemblies Common Fund, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Judicial Service, Ministry of Roads and Highways, Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Ministry of Health, National Health Fund, and Agenda 111.
