WN/R: 4 killed, several injured in Sefwi Asempanaye sprinter bus crash
Four people have been confirmed dead after a sprinter bus was involved in a fatal road crash at Sefwi Asempanaye in the Juaboso District of the Western North Region.
The accident occurred on Tuesday, April 1, 2026, as the vehicle was travelling from Kumasi to Oseikojokrom.
Reports indicate that the driver lost control after the bus developed a brake failure, causing it to veer off its lane and crash into a roadside culvert.
Simon Chebure, popularly known as “Papa Shee” and Unit Committee Chairman of Asempanaye, said the impact led to the immediate death of four passengers, while several others sustained injuries.
The injured were transported to nearby health facilities, with many currently receiving treatment at the St. John of God Hospital in Sefwi Asafo.
Mr Chebure added that the identities of the deceased have not yet been officially confirmed, as families continue to arrive at the hospital.
Authorities have since commenced investigations into the cause of the accident, amid ongoing concerns about road safety.
