O/R: Police arrest three after shooting incident in Keri
Police have arrested three suspects in connection with a shooting incident at Keri in the Oti Region, which left two persons injured.
According to a police report, the incident occurred on March 18, 2026, at about 2:00 p.m., when unknown gunmen reportedly opened fire on residents at their home.
The victims, identified as 82-year-old Gasalege Kumi Salisa and his 42-year-old son, Amoah Gasalege Amoah, were rushed to the Nkwanta Municipal Hospital for treatment.
Police who visited the facility said the victims sustained suspected pellet wounds to the head, chest, shoulders, and hands, but were responding to treatment.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the attackers, believed to be from a rival group, opened fire on the victims and their relatives at their residence, causing the injuries.
Following the incident, intelligence gathered indicated that some of the suspects had fled into nearby bushes.
A joint security operation involving the military led to the deployment of a drone, which identified individuals hiding in the area.
Security personnel subsequently pursued the suspects, leading to the arrest of three individuals, while three others managed to escape.
The arrested suspects were later handed over to the police by a military team led by an officer from the 66 Artillery Regiment in Ho.
The suspects have been identified as Bomie Dennis, 22; Charity Salisa, 25, who is seven months pregnant; and Kakotse Victoria, 22.
A search conducted at suspected hideouts led to the retrieval of several items, including four locally manufactured single-barrel guns, assorted cartridges, mobile phones, ECOWAS identity cards, and other materials believed to be linked to the crime.
Police say the suspects are currently in custody, assisting with investigations, while efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects.
All retrieved items have been retained as exhibits for evidential purposes.
