Use of levy: Ghana Airports Company to begin construction of new concourse at Accra International Airport
The Ghana Airports Company Limited has announced plans to begin work this month on a major expansion and modernisation project at Accra International Airport in Accra.
The project will see the construction of an ultra-modern concourse designed to connect Terminals 2 and 3, a move aimed at easing congestion and enhancing passenger experience at the country’s main international gateway.
According to the company, the new concourse will feature five passenger boarding bridges and five passenger holding areas to improve boarding efficiency.
It will also include bi-directional travelators, as well as five new escalators and elevators to facilitate seamless movement within the terminal.
In addition, the facility will house one VIP lounge and four business lounges to cater to premium travellers, alongside four new retail and duty-free outlets to boost commercial activity within the airport.
The expansion forms part of a broader strategy by the Ghana Airports Company to upgrade infrastructure and provide world-class, high-end services for the travelling public.
Officials say the project is expected to significantly enhance operational efficiency and position Accra International Airport as a leading aviation hub in the West African sub-region.
