Health Ministry suspends principal of Nkanchina Nursing College over alleged over-admissions

Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh

The Ministry of Health has suspended the principal of the College of Nursing, Nkanchina, Fredrick Anaba, over allegations of unapproved student admissions and the introduction of unauthorised academic programmes.

According to the ministry, the suspension takes immediate effect and will remain in force pending a comprehensive administrative investigation into the matter.

In a statement issued on March 12, 2026, the ministry explained that the decision follows a formal query sent to the principal on February 19, 2026, regarding admissions for the 2025/2026 academic year.

The ministry said that after reviewing Mr. Anaba’s response to the query, it concluded that further investigations were necessary to establish the full facts surrounding the alleged over-admission of students and the introduction of programmes that had not received official approval.

As part of the interim measures, Mr. Anaba has been directed to hand over the administration and management of the college to the Acting Vice Principal to ensure the smooth running of the institution while investigations continue.

The Ministry of Health reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing strict compliance with approved admission quotas and authorised academic programmes across all health training institutions in the country.

Head of Public Relations at the ministry, Isaac Ofei Baah, who signed the statement, said further updates would be provided after the investigations are completed.
