#2024 Polls: NPP's Mike Oquaye Jnr denies conceding defeat
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate for Dome Kwabenya, Mike Oquaye Jnr, has categorically denied conceding defeat in the recently concluded December 7th general elections.
In a statement issued by his communications team, Mr. Oquaye Jnr clarified that a video circulating on social media, which many had mistakenly believed showed him conceding defeat, was actually recorded during an interview conducted in 2020.
He explained that the video had been taken out of context and misrepresented.
“The purported video circulating on social media is from an interview conducted during the NPP’s parliamentary primaries in June 2020,” Mr. Oquaye Jnr stated, refuting the claims.
“As you can see, this was during the Covid era of 2020, and that is why I am wearing a face mask in the video.”
Oquaye Jnr further emphasised that the video, which some have used to suggest he had conceded the election, was a deliberate attempt to mislead the public. He urged the public to disregard the false information and clarified that he had not made any such declaration regarding the December 2024 elections.
“This video is being taken out of context and misrepresented. Kindly disregard such deliberately false misinformation,” he said.
The statement was signed by the DKC Communications Directorate on behalf of Michael Aaron Oquaye Jnr.
