The Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly has issued a final eviction notice to traders operating within sections of the old market in Kasoa, paving the way for a major redevelopment project aimed at upgrading the area’s commercial infrastructure.

A task force led by its commander, Nana Adeiso IV, visited the market to reinforce the directive and urge traders to vacate the premises immediately, warning that demolition works are set to commence without further delay.

The latest directive follows an earlier relocation deadline of March 27, which was extended to allow traders to operate through the Easter festivities.

Authorities say the grace period has now elapsed, and affected traders are expected to comply promptly.

According to the Assembly, alternative trading spaces have already been secured at the Kasoa Iron City Market, where displaced traders are to relocate and continue their businesses.

Officials noted that the facility is fully prepared and located just a few minutes from the Kasoa Central Business District.

Speaking to the media, Nana Adeiso IV reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to the redevelopment initiative, describing it as part of a broader strategy to modernise market infrastructure and boost economic activity within the municipality.

He urged traders to cooperate with the process to avoid any confrontations and cautioned against misinformation surrounding the exercise.

He further warned traders not to engage individuals claiming they can halt the eviction in exchange for money, stressing that the exercise will proceed as planned.

The redevelopment project is expected to significantly improve trading conditions and enhance the overall economic landscape of Kasoa, he said.
