C/R: Kasoa MCE cuts sod for 1km by-pass road to ease traffic congestion in municipality
The Municipal Chief Executive(MCE) for Awutu Senya East Municipality in the Central Region, Seth Serwono Banini, has cut sod for the construction of a one-kilometre alternative by-pass road aimed at reducing traffic congestion in Kasoa.
The new road will link Colomba Junction through the New Market to the Datus area, providing an alternative route for commuters who currently rely on the heavily congested Kasoa New Market road.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Banini said the project is expected to ease pressure on the main road and improve mobility within the municipality.
He explained that the by-pass, once completed, would offer motorists a smoother and more efficient route, helping to address long-standing challenges associated with poor road conditions and traffic gridlock.
The project, scheduled for completion within six months, will also include drainage systems and culverts to improve water flow and enhance the durability of the road.
Mr Banini further disclosed that measures would be taken to decongest portions of the New Market road currently occupied by traders to allow for smooth execution of the project.
He noted that some sections may be temporarily closed during construction.
Residents and commuters have welcomed the initiative, commending the MCE and the area’s Member of Parliament for the intervention.
Many expressed optimism that the project would bring lasting relief, reducing daily traffic challenges and improving transportation in the area.
