Disqualified NPP members in Atiwa East appeal for reinstatement as delegates
A group of disqualified members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Atiwa East Constituency is appealing to the party’s leadership to review their status and reinstate them as delegates.
The appeal comes as the party continues its vetting of members contesting for various constituency-level positions, beginning at the polling station level.
In Atiwa East, about 26 individuals were disqualified after reportedly supporting an independent candidate in previous elections, an act that breaches party rules.
The affected members say they regret their actions and are calling for forgiveness in the interest of party unity.
They have also appealed to Mahamudu Bawumia and the party’s national executives to grant them amnesty, stressing that unity will be important to the party’s prospects in the 2028 general elections.
According to the group, reintegrating members will help strengthen the party’s grassroots base.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Vetting Committee, Perry Appiah, said the process in the constituency has been smooth, with support from the Member of Parliament and party executives. He noted that no major challenges have been recorded.
The development reflects the party’s efforts to balance internal discipline with reconciliation as it prepares for future political activities.
