Krobo leaders demand apology over alleged tribal remarks by New Juaben South MP
Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) and members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) from Lower Manya, Yilo, Upper Manya, Asuogyaman, and Okere in the Eastern Region have condemned alleged tribal remarks made by the Member of Parliament for New Juaben South, Michael Okyere Baafi.
At a joint press conference, the group expressed strong disapproval of the comments, which were reportedly directed at the Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, and the Mayor of New Juaben South, Rasford Owusu Boakye.
The leaders called on the MP to issue an unqualified apology to the Regional Minister, the Mayor, the people of Krobo, and Ghanaians at large.
They emphasized that the Krobo people are peace-loving and committed to maintaining harmony, stressing that such remarks have the potential to create unnecessary tension if not addressed.
The group further urged political actors to promote unity and respect in public discourse, particularly in a diverse society like Ghana.
