Mahama sworn-in as 6th President

In a historic political comeback, John Dramani Mahama was sworn in as President of Ghana for a second term, following his emphatic victory in the December 7 general election.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) leader secured a clear mandate from the electorate, reaffirming his position as a key figure in Ghana’s democratic history.
Mr Mahama together with his Vice-President Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang were sworn in at a colourful ceremony held at the Black Stars Square in Accra.
The ceremony held at the Black Stars Square was an extension of Parliament.
This victory reflects a renewed sense of trust in his leadership as he prepares to guide the nation toward economic recovery and sustainable development.
Mahama’s triumphant return to power comes after a spirited campaign that resonated across Ghana.
With promises to tackle unemployment, improve healthcare, enhance infrastructure, and address corruption, his message struck a chord with millions of voters seeking transformative leadership.
Speaking to jubilant supporters at the NDC headquarters after the Electoral Commission officially declared him the winner, Mahama expressed deep gratitude to the people of Ghana.
“This victory is not mine alone—it belongs to the Ghanaian people who have placed their faith in our vision for a brighter future,” he stated.
In his victory speech, Mahama emphasized the need for national unity and reconciliation, urging Ghanaians to set aside political differences and work collectively toward the nation’s development.
“This is a time for healing, reconciliation, and shared purpose. Together, we will build a stronger, more prosperous Ghana,” he declared, pledging to govern inclusively and deliver on his campaign promises.
