A Depuy General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande,  has called for calm following public debate and internal backlash triggered by comments made by his junior officer, Eric Adjei, which were interpreted by some supporters as being directed at a senior party member.

In a statement addressing the controversy, Mr Gbande described Adjei as a “favourite junior officer”—said the situation had been exaggerated and urged party supporters to avoid internal divisions that could distract from the party’s broader objectives.

He explained that his original engagement was intended to address structural challenges affecting the party’s grassroots base, insisting that it was not targeted at any individual appointee or focused on jobs or financial matters.

According to him, no specific individuals were mentioned in the discussion, and the intent was to highlight systemic issues rather than provoke personal disputes.

He also clarified that he had privately cautioned Adjei over what he described as a public communication lapse, adding that the issue had since been acknowledged.

He further defended Adjei, describing him as a committed communicator who has served the party effectively, particularly in the Bono Regional branch of the NDC, where he has worked in a communications role since 2018.

He emphasised the importance of unity and coordination among party communicators, noting that internal differences should not be allowed to escalate into public confrontation.

The statement also called on supporters to remain focused and avoid misinterpretations that could undermine party cohesion.

He concluded by reaffirming his commitment to the party’s work, stating that his political approach is often misunderstood but consistently aimed at strengthening internal systems and improving organisational effectiveness.
