NDC leadership to review alleged threat against Oliver Barker-Vormawor
The leadership of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has initiated internal consultations following allegations by activist Oliver Barker-Vormawor that he received a threatening message from individuals he suspects to be affiliated with the party.
In a statement, the NDC’s Deputy General Secretary in charge of Operations, Mustapha Gbande, disclosed that the matter has been referred to the party’s General Secretary and National Chairman for review and appropriate action.
Mr Gbande emphasised that the NDC, as a modern political organisation, upholds strict standards of discipline, order and conduct among its members, stressing that any behaviour that contradicts these values would not be tolerated.
“The Party maintains a high standard of discipline… Any conduct to the contrary is wholly unacceptable and will be unequivocally condemned,” he noted.
He further indicated that the party intends to engage Mr Barker-Vormawor directly to obtain further details regarding the alleged threat, to enable leadership to properly assess and address the situation.
According to him, the NDC remains committed to democratic principles, including respect for divergent views, and has consistently rejected intimidation or threats to human life.
Mr Gbande reaffirmed the party’s position as a unifying political force focused on national development, adding that it would continue to pursue its vision while ensuring adherence to democratic norms and values.
