The Greater Accra Regional Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Prince Obeng, has held what he described as a “fruitful and forward-looking” meeting with the party’s 2028 Presidential Candidate, Mahamudu Bawumia, as he officially declared his intention to seek re-election.

The meeting, which took place on Tuesday morning, saw Mr. Obeng congratulate Dr. Bawumia once again and reaffirm his commitment to securing victory for the NPP in the 2028 general elections.

He noted that the party’s future efforts would build on the legacy of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Mr. Obeng said his decision to seek another term as Regional Organiser is grounded in years of active service and grassroots engagement.

He highlighted his political journey, including his tenure as a constituency officer, Regional Youth Organiser, and his current role as Regional Organiser, emphasizing his experience in mobilising, coordinating, and strengthening party structures across the region.

Reflecting on the party’s performance in the 2024 elections, he acknowledged challenges but maintained that he remained steadfast and retained the trust of party members.

He also raised concerns during the meeting about what he described as growing perceptions of favoritism and attempts by some individuals to suggest exclusive access to the party’s Presidential Candidate.

Mr. Obeng stressed the need to uphold fairness, inclusiveness, and internal democracy within the NPP.

In response, Dr. Bawumia reaffirmed his neutrality and commitment to party unity, stating that he remains accessible to all aspirants and would not align himself with any individual or faction.

He assured that all candidates would have equal opportunity and his “fatherly blessings.”

Mr. Obeng said the assurance reinforces the principle that leadership within the party should be determined by merit, track record, and grassroots support, rather than perceived closeness to leadership.

Looking ahead, he called for unity across all levels of the party, urging members to rally behind a disciplined and strategic agenda to secure victory in 2028.

He maintained that the NPP offers leadership capable of driving innovation and delivering tangible progress for Ghanaians.

Mr. Obeng was accompanied to the meeting by Ali Dogo, Sammy Awuku, and Eliasu Abubakar.

He concluded by announcing the launch of what he termed the “Revival Project,” a renewed mobilisation drive aimed at energising the party’s base in Greater Accra ahead of the next general elections.
