Digital Realty launches ACR2 Data Centre in Accra to strengthen Ghana’s digital sovereignty
Ghana’s drive toward digital independence gained new momentum as Digital Realty, a global leader in data centre and interconnection services, officially commissioned its ACR2 Data Centre in Accra.
The facility represents a major step in the country’s plan to expand local data capacity and enhance cybersecurity resilience.
The ACR2 facility, which supports 1.7 megawatts of IT load and houses 500 server racks, positions Ghana as a key data hub in West Africa. It will play a central role in storing and managing domestic data locally, in line with the government’s data localisation and digital sovereignty policies.

The launch aligns with Ghana’s broader digitalisation strategy under the Localisation Policy and Data Harmonisation Act, which promotes secure data management and reduces dependency on offshore hosting.
