The Trump administration has confirmed that 2026 FIFA World Cup ticket holders from Algeria, Cape Verde, Ivory Coast, Senegal, and Tunisia are exempt from paying visa deposits.

The visa bond policy, designed to reduce overstays, normally requires travelers from certain nations to pay between $5,000 and $15,000.

To qualify for this waiver, fans must have registered with FIFA’s "Fifa Pass" visa-acceleration system before April 15.

Despite this relief, African supporters still face major travel hurdles for the tournament, which runs from June 11 to July 19 across the US, Canada, and Mexico.

Senegal and Ivory Coast fans remain under partial US travel restrictions, and some Ghanaian fans targeting matches in Boston and Philadelphia have already been denied visas.

Additionally, fans face high travel costs for flights, lodging, and transit across the three host nations, alongside the potential need for separate Canadian or Mexican visas.

Ticket prices are also significant, with some African team matches exceeding $1,000 on FIFA’s official site and costing even more on resale platforms.

While a record 10 African countries will compete, their fans face strict travel rules and heavy financial demands.
