The Black Stars Management Committee paid a courtesy call on the National Chief Imam, His Eminence Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, to seek spiritual guidance and prayers for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.

Medeama SC President Moses Armah led the delegation, which included GFA Executive Council member Samuel Aboabire and former captain Stephen Appiah.

This visit is part of the Ghana Football Association’s broader preparations to ensure a successful campaign this summer.

During the meeting, the delegation requested blessings for the team as they prepare to face top global competitors. Moses Armah thanked the Chief Imam for his consistent support and stressed the necessity of national unity and faith in achieving success.

In response, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu pledged his full support and announced that special prayers would be held for the Black Stars during Friday’s Jumu’ah services across the country.

Regional Imams will be directed to lead their congregations in these prayers.

Further spiritual activities are scheduled for Friday, May 15, 2026, when committee members and GFA officials will join a prayer session at the Kawukudi Central Mosque.

These efforts coincide with growing national anticipation for the tournament.

Ghana is set to open its Group Stage campaign against Panama on June 17, followed by matches against England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27.

The delegation also included Dreams FC President Mohammed Jiji Alifoe, Vice President Prince Hamid, Accra Lions Team Manager Ishmael Hamidu, and Patrick Akoto from the Office of the President.
