GCB Bank has contributed GH¢5 million to support the Black Stars’ participation in the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, marking the largest donation from a financial institution toward the team’s preparations.

During the presentation at the bank's headquarters, Board Chairman Professor Joshua Alabi stated that the contribution reflects the bank's commitment to national development and sports.

He noted that football serves as a unifying force and provides Ghana with significant global exposure that can attract tourism and investment.

Professor Alabi encouraged other corporate entities to join the fundraising efforts to support the national team.

The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams, received the donation and commended GCB Bank for its consistent role in sports development and capacity building.

He confirmed that the funds would be used to support the team’s campaign and also announced that broadcast rights have been secured for selected media houses to air the matches live.

GCB Bank Managing Director Farihan Alhassan added that the bank’s support is driven by the passion Ghanaians have for football, pledging continued backing as the tournament approaches next month.
