Assistant Coach Desmond Ofei expresses confidence in Black Stars squad ahead of Mexico friendly
Black Stars assistant coach Desmond Ofei has praised the 23-man squad selected for Ghana’s upcoming international friendly against Mexico, describing the players as ambitious and highly motivated.
In an interview with Flashscore, Ofei explained that the team features a combination of Ghana Premier League standouts and emerging U23 talents.
The fixture serves as a key preparation match for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and provides an opportunity for players to impress the new head coach, Carlos Queiroz.
Following the Mexico game, Ghana is scheduled to face Wales on June 2 in their final preparatory match before the tournament.
Ghana has been drawn into Group L for the World Cup, where they will compete against Panama, England, and Croatia.
The Black Stars open their campaign against Panama on June 17, followed by England on June 23, and a final group game against Croatia on June 27.
The team is aiming to reach the knockout stages for the first time since their 2010 campaign.
