GFA President hails historic $5m sponsorship deal with Gold Fields Ghana
Ghana Football Association president Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has characterised the new two-year, US$5 million sponsorship agreement with Gold Fields Ghana Limited as a landmark moment for the nation’s football.
Announced on Friday, the partnership establishes Gold Fields as an Official Partner of Ghana football, with the funding allocated to support the Black Stars, the Black Queens, the Women’s Premier League, and the Black Challenge national amputee football team.
During the launch ceremony in Accra, Simeon-Okraku emphasised that the agreement transcends mere financial assistance, representing a deep-seated commitment to sports development founded on vision and patriotism.
He recalled the historical significance of Gold Fields’ previous support over two decades ago, noting that their earlier contributions provided the essential foundation for Ghana’s first FIFA World Cup qualification in 2006.
The GFA president concluded that this renewed partnership highlights the critical importance of inclusion and investment in the country's sporting landscape.
