CAF to announce decision on 2026 WAFCON within 48 hours
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is expected to make a decision on the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) within the next 48 hours.
Speculation about a potential postponement of the tournament has grown following reports last week suggesting CAF may reschedule the event, which also serves as the qualifying competition for the 2027 Women's World Cup in Brazil.
Although the reports have not been officially confirmed, CAF’s Head of TV and Commercial, Luxolo September, stated that an official announcement will be made soon.
"CAF will communicate within the next 48 hours on the situation regarding the Women's Africa Cup of Nations," he said on X, formerly Twitter. "There have been several discussions for weeks. The matter is receiving urgent and high-level attention."
The tournament is currently scheduled to take place in Morocco from March 17 to April 3, with participating countries already preparing for the competition.
