Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has stated that he believes he is the second most heavily criticised public figure in the country, trailing only the President of the Republic, John Mahama.

Okraku made the observations during the official launch of the GFA’s UK Talent Identification Programme, where he spoke on the persistent public scrutiny attached to his position as the nation's top football administrator.

Addressing attendees at the event, Okraku pointed out the frequency with which his name dominates both traditional media and online sports discourse.

“I am not too sure that in our country, there are more than two people who are more criticised than my good self,” Okraku remarked. “You take the president of the country out, the next most criticised person is Kurt Okraku.”

He noted the extensive airtime dedicated to football across Ghanaian radio stations, adding that his name is mentioned "every second of the day." To illustrate his point, Okraku referenced the public reaction to the national team selection, stating, “The Black Stars squad was released by head coach Carlos Queiroz. Go on social media and see who is attacked, it’s Kurt.”

The GFA President's comments come amid the Black Stars' ongoing preparations for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup in Cardiff.

As part of their tournament build-up, Ghana is scheduled to play two international friendlies, facing Wales on June 2 and Jamaica on June 10.

For the tournament itself, the four-time African champions have been drawn into Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia. Ghana will open its World Cup campaign against Panama on June 17 at BMO Field, followed by a match against England on June 23 at Gillette Stadium, before concluding the group stage against Croatia on June 27.
