Black Stars coach Otto Addo says his job is “always under threat” but insists he remains focused as the team prepares to face Germany today in Stuttgart.

The 50-year-old former Ghana international has faced criticism since returning to the national team, with scrutiny intensifying after last Friday’s 5-1 defeat to Austria in an international friendly.

“We have had a lot to analyze since Saturday’s [defeat], which was a big, big blow for us in our preparation,” Addo said.

“We were actually optimistic to at least have a good game. But after the first half, and let’s say two unnecessary goals, we fell apart.”

Despite calls for his dismissal, Addo said he does not pay attention to such pressures.

“Even when we qualified for the World Cup, people were calling for me to step down. So, [my job] is always under threat, but I don’t really care. For me, the most important thing is that I prepare my best for the team to the best,” he said.

On Ghana’s chances against Germany, Addo expressed confidence.

“Surely even though we will have very strong opponents, we are very, very optimistic that we can handle the situation,” he said.

Kick-off for the friendly is scheduled at 6:45 PM.

These matches form part of the Black Stars’ preparations for the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
